About Me
Hi, I’m John Peter Dorado — tech enthusiast turned full-time creative, and the storyteller behind Doradz Studio.
How It Started
My journey into photography began not with art school, but while working as a tech support rep for Sony — assisting U.S.-based customers with cameras and camcorders. Ironically, I was helping people with gear I didn’t own myself (yet!).
Everything changed when I moved to New Zealand and my parents came to visit. I asked myself: “What’s the best gift I can give them?” Not gadgets. Not money. But memories. So I bought my first camera — not to start a business, but to capture every moment, smile, and sunset we shared.
From that one camera, things evolved. Lenses, lights, gear — they multiplied (like rabbits 🐇). What began as a way to document life turned into a deep passion to capture stories not just for me, but for others too.
What I Do Now
- Photography: I shoot weddings, events, boudoir, portraits — always aiming to preserve not just the moment, but the meaning.
- Software & Web: As a developer, I build tools like galleries and booking systems using Django to improve how creatives (like me) work.
- Creative Projects: Mkdir Gallery is my playground — a mix of tech and visuals, for those who love both code and creativity.
My Background
I’ve worn many hats — from healthcare to tech — and studied a few too:
- 🎓 Master’s in FinTech (ongoing)
- 💻 Postgrad Certificate in Computer Science
- 🩺 Bachelor of Nursing
- 🏥 Diploma in Health Services Management
- 📊 Certificate in Business
Those diverse paths taught me how to care, adapt, and build — values I now bring to every project and photoshoot.
Let’s Work Together
